TAQ 1 Part 2

Post by Charlie1980 »

Can somebody please tell me if they have actually used 'function' as a feature within the table? I'm not really sure what is expected in this part as function to me sounds like some sort of positive contribution and a pathogen is of no advantage to the body. The only 'function' I can see for pathogens is to survive so I can't really talk about any differences there.

Is this just a badly worded example to use and if so what are we actually meant to discuss??

Pathogens do have a function... but you are not asked to explain the function of a pathogen you are asked to explain the function of microbes......some microbes are pathogens and some are not

If in doubt please contact your tutor

So is my understanding wrong that we are only looking at the features of pathogenic microorganisms?

No not quite right I am afraid the first part of TAQ 1 is about pathogens the second is looking at the list you are given in the TAQ which are not necessarily pathogens, but they can be. For example a fungus could be a mushroom as well as a pathogen

So take each organism in the list and look at the difference between them
