Hi
There are lots of us who can help you - if you just describe what you are struggling with - which TAQ you are on and what/why you are struggling I'll be happy to help if I can!

Hi Rebecca,

Thank you so much. It is Social Work with the Older Person and TAQ 1. I have completed the part regarding policy and legislation and the second part is to evaluate the role of a social worker. The whole TAQ is 600 words so I have used 300 for the first half. I am a bit unsure with how to evaluate the role, so far my thoughts were to split it into three paragraphs with the first being what the social worker for older people does, second is limitations and boundaries they may face, and thirdly gerontological social work and training. I was wondering if I am on the right lines with this? And if so, what actual limitations do they face or can you point me in the direction of somewhere I can search?

Many thanks

Hi
You are thinking about this along the right lines - if you are evaluating something you are considering the strengths and weaknesses of it. So here you could be making a case about how effective social workers can be in care for the elderly and this source may help you with this positive side of the evaluation http://www.cpa.org.uk/cpa-lga-evidence/ ... future.pdf
In terms of limitations and barriers although this is an older resource there are some ideas about dignity and mental health in this source

Hope this helps you to make progress with your assessment

Hi
For this you really need to be thinking about extra barriers that social workers may face when dealing with the elderly which may limit their effectiveness - for instance dementia or limited mobility

Yes this woudl certianly be a barrier to the effectiveness of the role of the social worker when working with the elderly

You may also want to think about issues with lack of funding for training to develop expertise in issues associated with older people and legal measures which aim to protect the interests and rights of older people, however they also have the right to be treated equally and not have age used as a means to achieve equality of service. Lots of ideas here to think about

Hi,

I had written already about lack of funding (thankful to be on the right track) but I needed more to finish of the question. Many thanks again for your support. Now onto TAQ 3, the 500 word essay :-)

Hi,
For TAQ 3 it mentions to involve the Care Act. For this do I have to focus on funding and payments?
