Human reproductive Biology

Post by LisaClark »

Hi

I'm currently doing the human reproductive biology TAQ 3.
I have a table to complete regarding the advantages and disadvantages of 4 contraceptive methods. It says i need to critically evaluate them not just list the advantages, disadvantages and a final evaluation.
While I've got all my information i don't feel I'm critically evaluating them :( Anyone got any pointers?

Thanks

Lisa

To critically evaluate you need to consider how important the advantages and disadvantages are, some may be minor, some may be of more serious consideration. Also include data to support your statements such as data of how effective each method of contraception is.

Hi Lisa,

Congratulations on the distinction.

I am on TAQ 5 of Human Reproduction now. I am having a bit of bother trying to understand exactly what is being asked of me?

Did you describe the Genetic Counselling role, and then describe two different tests such as prenatal and diagnostic testing? or is it meant to be about specific tests such as the tests for Down syndrome and Cystic Fibrosis?

Any help you could give would be great. Thanks! :D

Hi
Thankyou
i talked a little about what genetic counselling is and why someone would consider it. I talked about the role of the counselors e.g. support
i mentioned a little about prenatal tests such as ultrasound and described about diagnostic tests, but i mostly focused on specific examples of CVS and amniocentesis. I think you do need to talk about two specific tests.
I also found it useful to discuss the role of counselors if the tests yields a positive result such as coping with a child who may have severe mental or physical difficulties or if the parents had to of consider a termination.

Hope thats helpful? :D

Hey guys,
wonder if you can help?

I am stuck on TAQ 1 asking for roles and different structures of male and female reproductive systems, this seems a lot of information to include into 200 words? Not sure which parts to include?

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks
Lucy

Hi Lucy

If you are struggling with the word count, use a diagram if that is easier for you!
